R3X 1.1.7 is packaged as a Windows x64 desktop application. The exact signed pilot installer has completed installed-app QA on Windows 11. The Electron framework supports Windows 10 or later; a clean Windows 10 QA run remains before final public support wording is locked.

Computer Requirements
R3X Reading Bridge is a local-first Windows desktop program designed for ordinary school laptops. Student instruction, records, and imported reading content remain on the adult’s computer rather than depending on a live web connection.

What a teacher computer needs
These requirements are based on the signed R3X 1.1.7 pilot build, installed-app testing, and the current responsive laptop target.
Use a standard computer capable of running Windows 11. Windows on ARM is not yet part of the verified support statement.
R3X does not currently publish a separate RAM minimum beyond the requirements of a supported 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer.
R3X has been designed and repaired for standard smaller district laptops. Responsive layouts adapt to narrower screens, but this resolution provides the best current working space.
The signed R3X 1.1.7 installer is 173,566,440 bytes. Additional storage is needed for the installed application, BridgePacks, records, logs, temporary files, and encrypted backups.
The exact public free-space recommendation will be locked after the complete Bridges 1–10 package is assembled and measured. Teachers should maintain additional free space for automatic encrypted backups.
Internet access is used to reach the teacher website and download the installer, BridgePack, updates, and support materials. Normal R3X instruction runs locally after installation and content import.
A printer is not required for onscreen instruction. It is useful for take-home readers, clean instructional materials, and printed reports.

Per-user installation
The installer is configured for the signed-in Windows user and allows the installation folder to be changed. District security policies may still require technology-department approval.
Separate program and content
The R3X engine and BridgePack content are downloaded separately. This keeps changing instructional content separate from the application and from student records.
Local student records
Student profiles, instructional records, settings, and progress are stored in the signed-in teacher’s protected local R3X runtime area.
Automatic encrypted backups
R3X creates protected backups automatically. District technology staff may redirect those backups to an approved Windows or network location.
No student accounts
Students do not need email addresses, website accounts, or cloud logins. The adult manages instruction from the installed Teacher Edition.
No browser required for lessons
R3X is an installed desktop program. A modern browser is needed only for the R3X website, account access, downloads, and online support materials.

Windows 10 compatibility and Microsoft support status are separate questions. R3X’s framework supports Windows 10 or later, but schools still using Windows 10 should follow their district’s security and Extended Security Updates policy. The final R3X public support statement will be confirmed after a clean Windows 10 x64 installation test.
Using a district-managed computer?
R3X is designed as a per-user 64-bit Windows installation for Windows 10 or Windows 11, but a district may block downloaded applications, require software approval, control installation locations, or redirect backups. Teachers should follow their school or district technology process when required.
